How to play Briscola

In 4-player games, everyone starts with 3 cards.

After dealing, a card is placed on the table that marks the Trump suit. The trump suit beats any other suit and is key to winning the game. The remaining cards are left on the table to be drawn.

The hand player starts the game with a card. The following players must play any card from their hand.

The player who has played the following cards wins:

  1. The highest trump card.
  2. The highest card of the same suit.

This player wins all the cards on the table (the “trick”) and starts playing in the next hand.

All the players draw a card and the round continues until all cards have been played.

Change of trump

When a player wins a trick, he may trade the “trump” (the card under the deck) for a card of the same suit according to the following rules:

Trump card Change for...
Ace, 3, King, Knight, Jack 7
7, 6 ,5, 4 2

Count up points

The player or the team with the most points wins the round, depending on the cards they have collected.

In case of a tie, the winner of the last trick wins.
